How Gen Katumba Wamala survives assassination attempt

Former Works and Transport Minister Gen Katumba Wamala has survived an assassination attempt after four unknown armed assailants riding on two black motorbikes shot at his convoy. They were shot at along Kisota road in Kisasi.

The former Commander of Defence Forced (CDF) was riding with his daughter Brenda Wamala, driver and bodyguard. Brenda and the driver died on spot.

The General, who sustained two injuries on the right and left upper parts of his body, was evacuated by a boda rider who took him to the unrevealed medical facility before rushing him to Medipal Hospital where he was admitted.

Eye witnesses recounted that the victims retaliated and shot at the assailants in the upper part of the body before they fled for safety.

Speaking at Medpal international hospital Uganda peoples Defense Forces (UPDF) Spokesperson, Brig Flavia Byekwaso said; “The General is out of danger.”

She said Gen Katumba Wamala is now safe after undergoing surgery for his injuries sustained in an assassination attempt on his life.

Brig Byekwaso said investigations have started to establish who was behind the assassination plan.
