IGP Ochola welcomes the newly appointed Deputy IGP and Director CID

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Martins Okoth Ochola has welcomed the newly Deputy Inspector General (DIGP) Major General Geoffrey Tumusiime Katsigazi and Director of Criminal Investigations Directorate Major Magambo Tom.

Maj. Gen. Katsigazi replaces Maj. Gen. Paul Lokech who died from his home in August last year. Police however confirmed that he succumbed to blood clot. Maj. Magambo replaces Grace Akullo.

“Iwould like to greatly thank President Yoweri Museveni for the appointment of Major General Tumusiime Kasigazi as the Deputy Inspector General of Police and Major Magambo Tom as the Director, Criminal Investigations Directorate. The Officers bring diverse experience to their new roles.” IGP said

He welcomed and congratulates the DIGP and Director CID, to the call of delivering leadership and stewardship of the Uganda Police Force (UPF) as they protect and serve their Motherland.

Maj. Gen. Kasigazi Previously, he served as the Defence Liaison Officer at the headquarters of the East African Community, in Arusha, Tanzania

He served in the past as Commander of the UPDF Motorized Infantry Brigade and as the Acting Chief of Staff of the UPDF Land Forces, among other appointments.

In January 2020, he took over as deputy commander of the UPDF Air Force, replacing Major General Gavas Mugyenyi, who was appointed Uganda’s military attache to India. On 28 March 2020, he was promoted from the rank of Brigadier to that of Major General.
