Lt Gen Pecos Kuteesa passes on

Lt Gen Pecos Kuteesa has passed on at Max hospital in India. His death was confirmed by the spokesperson of Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) Brig. Gen Flavia Byekwaso.

“UPDF fraternity with deep sorrow regrets to announce untimely passing on of Lt Gen Pecos Kuteesa which occurred today 17 August 2021 while on admission at Max hospital in India.” She said

 Lt Gen Pecos Kuteesa was among UPDF General Officers who were retired on 5 August 2021. He was commander of the UPDF Centre for doctrine development and synthetization until the time of his retirement.

“The ministry of Defence And Veteran Affairs condoles with the family relatives and friends of the deceased during this difficult time.” She said

Gen. Kutesa, who was among the UPDF chiefs that were recently retired from the force, participated in the bush war the brought the current government to power.

He served the UPDF in different capacities and detailed some of his achievements in his biography titled “Uganda’s Revolution 1979-1986: How I Saw It”.

Lt. Gen. Pecos Kutesa was one of Museveni’s first bodyguards during the war and he is among the first twenty-six people to join the guerilla war that brought NRA, now NRM, to power.
