Parliament okays the appointment of Alupo as Vice President and Nabbanja as Prime Minister of Uganda

Parliament has approved the appointment of Jessica Alupo as the Vice President and Robinah Nabbanja as Prime Minister of Uganda. The two were appointed last week according to the cabinet list released by President Museveni.

The former minister of education and her counterpart the former state minister of health were approved by a simple majority procedure in the house.

The motion for approval of Jessica Alupo as Vice President of Uganda was moved by Ruhinda North MP, Thomas Tayebwa and only three MPs out of the 290 in attendance voted against the motion.

“I thank the President for entrusting me with this honour of the second highest office in the land. I will not spare any energy in serving this country on this appointment.” Alupo said upon approval

Moments after Kinkizi East MP Chris Baryomunsi moved for approval of Kakumiro Woman MP as the Prime Minister of Uganda.

“Thank you for approving me as Prime Minister and I am truly grateful. I commit to the foundation laid by my predecessors ensuring availability of govt business and ensuring that ministers are present in the House.” Nabbanja said.

She said Ugandans expect and are yearning for quality service delivery from the government and this can be achieved if legislators put their minds together.

Jessica Alupo is the Katakwi District Woman Representative, a retired army officer at the rank of Major and also former Minister of Education.
