Police Investigates the gun down of UBC Journalist Robert Kagolo

Police are investigating the gruesome gun down of Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) Journalist Robert Kagolo that took place yesterday at Bugembejembe village in Wakiso.

It is averred that Kagolo was returning from the village after the brother’s burial, he hurriedly entered the late’s home which was being guarded by LDU personnel after he suspected that some people were trailing him. He knocked on the gate with his motor vehicle.

According to Luke Owesigire, the spokesperson of Kampala metropolitan Police, It is from there that a disagreement between him and two LDU personnel who were guarding the home started , unfortunately the disagreement led to a shooting of which the circumstances are being investigated.

Luke revealed that the former president of Uganda journalist Association (UJA) was killed by Local Defence Unit (LDU) officer Mamuli Rashid.

 “The victim was later rushed to ST Joseph Hospital Waskiso where he succumbed to the injuries sustained.” he said

Luke said upon getting the information, a joint team of Police and LDU command responded to the scene and managed to arrest Mamuli Rashid and his colleague. Kagolo’s body is yet to be conveyed to city mortuary Mulago for Postmortem.
